Race And Gender Play A Woman At The Top Of Her Career Essay

Picture a woman at the top of her career, with a title of Director and/or Senior Vice president. Now picture a man at the top of his career, with the same title. How does this woman and man look different through your eyes? Many would say that the women, must be Caucasian, have a college degree, most likely single and no kids in the future, due to the fact that she has attained such a prestigious position. She may be labeled as aggressive, callous and unhappy. While the man would be looked at as being in his prime of his career and a go getter. He would be looked upon as having a stay at home wife, children and the suburban dream. This paper will take a look into two different individual lives and how class, race and gender play a role in their position(s) in society. Interviewee (1) one is a man from Virginia, he has identified himself as a white male and acknowledge that he was in the working class system and once married moved into the middle class spectrum â€Å"in clas s systems, people may become members of a class other than that of their parents through both intergenerational and intragenerational mobility, either upward or downward† (Kendall, D. 2015. p. 215). His education consists of a high school diploma, whereas, he did not push himself (nor his parents) to further his education and did not have any desire to go to college.
